Pharrell Williams and Janelle Monáe, who worked with Kim Burrell on the Hidden Figures original soundtrack, have taken to social media to speak out against the singer's anti-gay remarks.
Kim came under fire for remarks she made where she told gays to "beg God for freedom" and added that homosexuality is a "perverted" spirit and a "spirit of delusion and confusion that has deceived many men and women."
After receiving an overwhelming amount of backlash (and some support), Kim took to Facebook Live and
said she won't make any excuses or apologies for her words nor does she plan to take her words back.
On New Year's Eve, Pharrell dropped a tweet where he said he "condemns hate speech of any kind."
Janelle Monáe had a little bit more to say about the topic where she specifically noted, "I will rejoice when folks stop thinking they ARE GOD, Jesus' assistant, picking and choosing what "sins" are acceptable in the Bible, and using the Bible as a whip!"
