outside. They opened the door and saw the woman lying on the steps in front of the house. They also saw a light colored Ford Taurus type vehicle flee the scene. The family immediately called police. Commander Michael Jefferson with IMPD said they don't get many runs in this area and it is shocking to them. "This comes as a shock to us when someone gets shot like that," said Jefferson. Family members identified the woman as Nerva Singleton. Police say they don't have any suspects. They are asking if anyone saw something to call police. "It could be your family, my family; it could happen," family friend Lucille Mayes said. "We must come together and let's stop this." As for the shooter, family members didn't hold back. "God have mercy on your soul," Mayes said.
