After nine years of silence, Kelis opens up about her violent, mentally and physically abusive marriage to Nas. It's been almost a decade since Kelis and Nas divorced and she has never publicly discussed what went on behind their closed doors until now. In an new interview with Hollywood Unlocked the singer-turned-chef opened up about the alleged physical and mental abuse she suffered in her marriage to the Hip Hop icon. Kelis said Nas would drink often and heavily...to the point of blacking out and becoming violent with her. She'd fight back in self-defense and the next day - he would wake up with no memory of what happened. "Literally, we would have the worst night ever and we would wake up the next day, and it's like it

never happened," she said. Kelis revealed the day she learned Chris Brown had assaulted Rihanna, she too, had bruises all over her body. But, she still wasn't ready to leave Nas. I remember so clearly when the pictures came out with that whole thing that happened with her and Chris Brown. And the only way I can describe it was like double-dutch. I felt like, 'Do I jump in? Do I say it?' Cause I had bruises all over my body at that time. That day, I remember being in Atlanta sitting in the kitchen and I wasn't ready to walk. By the time Kelis filed for divorce in April 2009, she says not only was Nas abusive, but he had been cheating on her for two years. Watch video below
