The family of Sonya White was preparing to lay their sister to rest at a local funeral home. When getting to the funeral home, they found the casket with the body of a complete stranger. “It was traumatic. No one should have to go through that with their loved one,” Lisa Harden, who is the cousin of the family exclaimed. Harden explained that she went with the deceased daughter’s and other family members to a special viewing. When we arrived, there was a different body in her casket. With her clothes on. Her undergarments. Her Buckeye earrings. And her wig. We were very devastated. We were all crying. We were very upset because we already were having a hard time preparing to view her body. Them to walk in and see a stranger lying there was horrible. To have to sit there. For us to view a body at 4:30 and then they tell us to come back at 6:30 because they had to swap them out, and change earrings,” Hardin said. Harden said was too much. “We wanted closure. But that is not something we will ever get. I never in my life seen something like this before," she said. Sonya’s sister, Kisha Givens,revealed that they chose a scarlet casket since the 51-year

old was an serious Buckeye fan. “Everything we picked for my sister we picked with love. Exactly what we thought she would have liked,” She said. Sonya’s daughter, Kourtney White, said that her mother had passed away very unexpectedly. “It’s already an awful experience. And then for that to happen just makes it worse,” Kourtney said. The family said that the owner had apologized for the mix-up and agreed to not charge for the services. This particular funeral home, mixed up a baby’s remains years ago as well. “It’s like is this the very first time this has happened. Why us? I don’t want to wish this on anyone else but why did we have to experience that,” asked the deceased’s daughter Kevina White. The daughters said that they are sorry for the other family of the other woman who was first in their mother’s casket. They were also traumatized. “You expect your loved one when they pass to be handled with care. And to be that careless with someone’s family member is inexcusable,” The family said that they want to be verbal for others who may have experienced similar issues like this .
