A man in Florida is accused of fatally injuring his girlfriend's mother at a retirement facility. This happened on her mother’s 93rd birthday, according to the official records. "This is a tragic and heinous case, and our thoughts are with her family and her loved ones," The Orange County Sheriff said. Javier Rosado Martínez, who is 54, was arrested on a first-degree fatal injury charge in the demise of Dolores Padilla Marrero. The body was found at St. Joseph Garden Courts. This is a retirement community. Family members said that Padilla Marrero was a devout Catholic. She was always willing to help people. She had four children, 11 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. "Sunday was Dolores's 93rd birthday, and unfortunately late that evening she was brutally fatally injured by someone she knew, someone she had gone out of her way to help," Mina added. "And that person was 54-year-old Javier Rosado Martínez." A resident at the retirement community noticed Martinez trying to gain access to the community via a keypad. A resident there actually let him into the building. Martínez went to the facility after having an argument with his on and off

girlfriend. Family members said that they dropped Padilla off that evening. They became worried when she didn’t answer her phone the next day. When they entered the home, they found the victim laying on the bed with no clothes. Her torso was covered by a blanket. Her face was covered with a pillow, authorities said.  A medical examiner revealed that the cause of death was by strangulation and blunt force trauma to her torso, according to records. The blunt force trauma was cracked ribs.  During an investigation, authorities said that a horn necklace that Martínez usually wears was found wrapped in a shirt next to the victim’s lifeless body.  Martínez was later arrested at a residence, where authorities said that they found items linking him to crime. They also found a necklace and some keys to the victim's residence.  Martinez did not confess to fatally injuring Padilla Marrero. He told authorities that he was on drugs and that he “blacked out" during the incident. The victim allowed the man and her granddaughter to stay with her until things got out of hand. Martinez and her granddaughter would argue and would make the living arrangements uncomfortable.
