Man Collects Deceased Mother’s Social Security Benefits For 37 Years

Walter Terrell could not resist the temptation of cashing his deceased mom’s check. He said that he tried to get the government to stop sending checks but they continued to do so. He forged his mother’s name and everything. His mom died in 1981. Every time that you sign someone else’s name, that is fraud. Even when technology changed and checks were able to be directly deposited, he allowed the checks to go in his account. The checks were in his
mothers name. Terrell was given six months in prison after it was found that he had stolen more than $280,000 by depositing those checks. There were attempts to get in contact with Terrell's mother after they noticed that her medicare benefits were not getting used. Every time they tried, Terrell said that his mother was on a vacation. He also would have someone impersonate her when people would call. These actions allowed for the checks to continue. Watch Video Below
