A Mother’s Betrayal: The Death of Jalayah Eason A 6-year-old girl named Jalayah Eason was found bruised and unconscious in her Bronx apartment. She was rushed to the hospital where she was pronounced dead less than an hour later. Her mother, Lynija Eason, 26, was charged with acting in a manner that was injurious to a child. the emergency call to report that her daughter was unresponsive. She said that she was awakened to her daughter not being alive. Neighbors heard the event and was able to give their account on what happened. The neighbor that lives one floor below said that she heard cries and deafening screams from the children on several occasions. She also said that she heard Jalayah beg for her life.
