The victim’s name was Jermiera Ivory Fowler, according to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office. She was a 31-year-old Birmingham resident and a mother of two.
Authorities found Fowler’s body on fire around 9 p.m. in a wooded area.
They had gotten a call about a body burning there.
Birmingham authorities had put out a missing alert for
Fowler earlier that day. They said she was last seen around 4 p.m. the day before.
Fowler had disappeared after leaving home to supposedly buy something from FB Marketplace, authorities said.
Officer Truman Fitzgerald said that they don’t know for sure if Fowler was really going to make a purchase.
No one has been arrested yet.
