A couple in Connecticut who had a newborn was fatally shot on Father’s Day. This was over a “minor personal dispute” between neighbors over a dog.
Christina Dang, who was 27, and Chase Garrett, who was 39, were pronounced deceased at the scene. A third person, a woman who authorities say lived with the couple, was harmed. She was rushed to a hospital and deemed to be in critical condition.
“This is a tragic series of events, and it is heartbreaking to think that two people have lost their lives, and a third person remains in critical condition, because of a minor personal dispute that escalated into violence,” The Mayor said.
He mentioned a “very painful and especially tragic element”
of the ordeal was that “there is a 6-month-old baby who we now believe is an orphan.”
Family corrected that statement and said that the baby is 4 months old.
The Victims' sister said she “was a beautiful soul full of life.” She had just given birth in February.
“She was a mother to a 4-month-old, Chosen, and she lost her life over a senseless argument,” she said. “It’s hard for a child to lose two parents on the same night and on Father’s Day, a day that should be loved and, you know.”
The baby was taken into custody.
A vehicle that authorities suspect was the getaway car has been obtained. A person of interest has also been questioned.
