Man Who Fatally Injured His Pregnant Wife Gets Life In Prison

A Missouri man who fatally injured his pregnant wife with a mallet in 2019, will spend the rest of his life confined in prison. A jury convicted Beau Rothwell of fatal injury, tampering with evidence and abandonment of a corpse. He was sentenced to life without parole for the fatal injury of his wife, Jennifer Rothwell. She happened to be six weeks pregnant at the time of her demise. Jennifer, 28, passed away on Nov. 11, 2019, after the couple engaged in a heated argument. It was over an affair that her husband was having. Rothwell admitted to his tawdry deeds in the whiteness stand. During the argument, he refused to reveal the identity of the other woman. When this happened, Rothwell said that the argument turned violent. He testified that his wife told him to keep his "mystery b----," and then she alleged that the baby that she was carrying was not his. A paternity test was performed and later confirmed that Rothwell was in deed the father. Rothwell, who is 31, said that he went into a "red haze" and hit Jennifer his wife in the head with a mallet. After she was hit, she stumbled towards the garage door. He said that he followed her. "In the heat of everything, I hit her again," Rothwell revealed during testimony. “ I believe I cracked her skull, she fell unconscious and fell down the stairs." He said that he did not plan to fatally injure his wife, but afterwards he dumped her un dressed body in the woods. The

woods was located about an hour away from their home. He cleaned the house with bleach. He threw away evidence in a dumpster near the highway. Rothwell then reported that his wife was missing. He was obtained after authorities found bodily fluids- and bleach-soaked carpeting. This was found during a search of the residence. Rothwell led them to her body. It was discovered that earlier, Jennifer had done an internet search on .“what to do if your husband is upset you are pregnant.” A few months prior to fatally injuring  Jennifer, Rothwell developed a list of pros and cons of ending the couple's marriage. The list was found in a notebook that was f at Rothwell's workplace by his boss. The notebook was introduced as evidence at the trial. On the positive side of leaving the marriage, Rothwell wrote, "nicer," "proven mother," "better sex life," "more respect" and "fresh start," among other things. On the not so good side of leaving his wife, Rothwell wrote, "Jennifer and her family," "have to move," "half my assets/money," "possibly get another job" and "my family disappointment," among other things. Jennifer's family spoke about their loss during the trial. "Jennifer was a bright light in our lives," her mother, Robin Von Hausen, said. "We thought we would have more than 28 years with her. Gone are the moments of joy with friends and relatives.” Rothwell also decided to make a statement before receiving his sentence. "To Jennifer's family, words cannot describe how sorry I am," he said. "This should have never happened." Watch Video Below
