Nick Gordon Is Found ' Legally Responsible' For Bobbi Kristina's Death

Nick Gordon, the boyfriend of Bobbi Kristina Brown - the daughter of Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown - has been held "legally responsible" for her death after being a no-show in court for a second time. Because of Gordon's failure to appear in civil court, "anything alleged by Brown's conservator in their wrongful death civil lawsuit against him is admitted through omission," Fulton County Superior Court Judge T. Jackson Bedford told WXIA. I am pleased with the outcome of today's court proceedings," Bobby Brown said in a statement Friday. "All I ever wanted was answers relating to who and what caused my daughter's death. Today's judgment tells me it was Nick Gordon. Now I need to process all the emotions I have and lean on God to get me and my family through this." The conservator of Brown's estate, Bedelia Hargrove, filed a $50 million wrongful death suit against Gordon in August of 2015 accusing Gordon of assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and transferring money from Brown's account into his own without authorization. The suit also claims brown was drugged with a "toxic cocktail" and drowned in a tub of cold water by Gordon, according to NBCNews. Gordon's lawyers have previously denied the allegations in the suit as "meritless," and told NBC the Fulton County District Attorney's Office "tried to make Nick a murderer." Bobbi Kristina

Autopsy results released in March 2016 showed multiple drugs were in Brown's system when she died, which along with, being immersed in water, led to her death. "In court today, we finally finished a long journey for justice for Bobbi Kristina Brown," R. David Ware, a lawyer for Brown's conservator, said outside court. "The only thing left to prove is the value of her life. We intend to do that." A jury will now have to determine the amount of damages to be awarded to Brown's conservator Despite the ruling, no criminal charges have been filed against Gordon in the case. "It's not a criminal case but it doesn't have to be," Ware said. "We want to legally establish he was responsible for her injuries that proceeded her death and we've done that today.
