Jeezy Gets Candid With Nia Long About His Pending Divorce From Jenny Mai

Jeezy Opens Up About His Divorce: "It Wasn't Meant to Be" Rapper Jeezy has finally broken his silence on his divorce from TV host Jeannie Mai Jenkins, who he married in March 2021 and filed for divorce from in September 2023. In a candid conversation with actress Nia Long, Jeezy revealed that he and Jeannie went to therapy but the relationship still could not be salvaged. Jeezy, who celebrated his 46th birthday on Sept. 28, said that he was "saddened" and "disappointed" by the end of his marriage, but he also accepted that "it wasn't meant to be". He said that he and Jeannie had different visions for their future and their family, and that they grew apart over time. "We tried to make it work, we really did. We went to therapy, we talked, we listened, we compromised. But at the end of the day, we realized that we wanted different things. And that's OK. Sometimes you have to let go of what you love to find what you need," Jeezy said. Jeezy and Jeannie share a daughter, Monaco, who was born in January 2022. Jeezy said that he loves his daughter more than anything and that he wants to co-parent her with Jeannie in a healthy and respectful way. "Monaco is my everything. She's my little princess. I want to give her the best life possible. And I want to do that with Jeannie. We may not be together as a couple, but we're still a family. We're still her parents. And we're going to put her first, always," Jeezy said. Jeezy also addressed the rumors that he cheated on Jeannie, which he denied. He

said that he was faithful to his wife and that he respects her as a person and a mother. "I never cheated on Jeannie. That's not who I am. That's not what I do. I respect her too much for that. She's a beautiful woman, a talented woman, a strong woman. She's the mother of my child. I would never do anything to hurt her or disrespect her like that," Jeezy said. Jeezy said that he has no hard feelings towards Jeannie and that he wishes her nothing but happiness. He said that he is grateful for the time they spent together and the lessons they learned from each other. "I don't regret anything. I don't hate her. I don't blame her. I thank her. She taught me a lot. She made me a better man. She gave me a beautiful daughter. She showed me love. And I will always love her for that. I just hope she finds what she's looking for. And I hope she's happy," Jeezy said. Jeezy also opened up about his new double album, I Might Forgive...But I Don't Forget, which he released on Nov. 3. He said that the album is a reflection of his life and his emotions, and that it helped him cope with his divorce. "This album is me. It's my story. It's my pain. It's my joy. It's my healing. It's my growth. It's my truth. It's my therapy. It's my way of expressing myself and letting go of the past. It's my way of moving forward and embracing the future. It's my way of saying, I might forgive, but I don't forget," Jeezy said.
