Lauren Smith-Fields, who was just 23, was found unresponsive inside of her apartment after she met an older man on a Dating App. The family said that the man contacted authorities about the young lady but wasn’t taken in for questioning. Her brother told reporters that he asked authorities about the man but was informed that an arrest wasn’t made because “he was a nice man who didn’t need

to be investigated.” A cause of her demise has not yet been revealed by the city’s medical examiner. The family decided to pay for an independent examiner. “Without a doubt, we know that my daughter was not a substance user, and I had a second autopsy done myself and paid out of pocket because we felt so uncomfortable with the way it was handled,” Smith-Fields’ father, Everett exclaimed.
