Columbia Magazine reports the communication freshman and member of the LWC track and field team from Cincinnati, OH, was found unresponsive in her room in McCandless Hall. Lindsey Wilson President William T. Luckey Jr. released the following

statement: We were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Mercedes. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends and teammates and the entire LWC community during this incredibly difficult time. Mercedes' boyfriend, Markeice "Mari" Brown, was completely devastated and took to Facebook to express his hurt and pain.   Unfortunately, many attacked and blamed Markiece for Mercedes' death. On Saturday, Markiece posted a suicide note on Facebook where he revealed Mercedes was pregnant with their child at the time of her death. He went on to say how they both hated life and made a pact to go out together. He ended his letter writing, "They won't let me come to the funeral so Ima go see her myself." See Posts Below
