Barstow authorities arrested Ricardo Mendez, 27, and Antanita Miller for allegedly taking the life of their son. Family members are deeply saddened from finding out this news. "Everybody is devastated," Jamari Mendez's aunt Leslie Mendez told Reporters "We didn't expect our own family to do this to his own son. According to records, the parents are being charged with torture, assault of a child and fatal injury. Just a day before their arrests, Leslie said that her brother Ricardo and Miller unexpectedly showed up at a family home in Pomona, California. Their other two children were there. They claimed that Jamari was with Miller's mother. "They both walked inside like nothing happened," Leslie recalled to the station. Ricardo decided to confess to his family. He said that Jamari was no longer living. Leslie alleged, that the child’s body was in the back of their

car. Leslie said that she hurried to the car to retrieve her nephew. "Everybody runs and he was covered in blankets. That's when my two other brothers helped my sister-in-law take the baby out," Leslie explained . She said that she and her sister-in-law rushed Jamari limp body to a local hospital. The parents didn’t even go. Hospital Staff attempted to revive him. Jamari was pronounced deceased immediately at arrival. Authorities were called because of the suspiciousness of Jamari’s demise. Detectives said that they observed his injuries. Evidence shows that the injuries are linked to ongoing mistreatment. The child’s body was covered in "lesions, bruising, and burn marks," The injuries seemed that they were in different stages of healing. It is believed that Jamari passed at home.
