Mother And Son Face Fatal Injury Charges In Chicago Altercation

A mother and her 14-year-old son have been charged with fatal injury after the teen allegedly fatally shot a man who hit his mother during an argument at a fast food restaurant in Chicago. According to prosecutors, Carlisha Hood, 35, was getting food at a local restaurant. Soon after making her food order, she got into a verbal altercation with Jeremy Brown. Hood was texting her son, who was waiting in the car, and he came inside with a weapon. Brown then physically assaulted Hood several times in the head. Her son injured him in the back as he tried to run away. The teen then chased Brown and shot him again,

fatally wounding him. Hood reportedly told her son to also injure Brown’s girlfriend, who was laughing and encouraging Brown during the argument. He decided to not do so. A video released by authorities shows Hood trying to take the weapon away from her son before they both fled the scene. The mother and son turned themselves in. They have no criminal history and Hood had a valid firearm owner’s identification card and a permit to carry a concealed weapon. Hood was charged with fatally injuring and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and her son was charged with fatal injury as well. They are being held without bail pending a court hearing.
