Charisma Smith, who was a 21 that lived in Syracuse, New York. She worked as a home healthcare aide for the elderly. She was also a mother of two girls. Her ex-boyfriend searched for her new apartment for more than a week. He found it and went there one night to fatally injure her. Charisma Smith was fatally wounded when she was shot once in the head. Smith’s ex-boyfriend, Michael Brantley, who was 44, had been searching for Smith. She had not shared her new address. Friends had taken the time and warned Smith that her ex, Brantley was knocking on doors and showing her photo to people. This was in an attempt to locate her. Around 11:20 at night, Brantley showed up at her apartment and fatally injured her in front of at least one

of her small children. Shortly after the shooting, Brantley was found in his car. He was found at the Syracuse Hancock International Airport with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Brantley was the father of Smith’s two children. They had a 4 year old and a 1 year old. Smith and Brantley had met when she was just 16 years old. Smith was pregnant with her first child at 17. Brantley would have been around 40 at the time. Brantley lied about his age. Right before her death, Smith had spoken to her mother about an increase in the harassment from Brantley.He would send Smith texts disrespecting her and threatening her.
