Arlington Authorities said that 24-year-old Breana Johnson will face a fatal injury charge. She has been charged with the death of her boyfriend Ricky Doyle, who was just 25 years old.
She is accused of fatally injuring her boyfriend by setting him on fire. This happened at an Arlington gas station.
Authorities allege that 24-year-old Breana Johnson pumped gasoline into her car. She did this where 25-year-old Ricky Doyle was sitting. She “intentionally ignited it.” Authorities said. The victim was severely burned. He passed away just recently, due to his injuries.
Johnson was initially arrested and charged with aggravated assault. It has been now upgraded to a fatal injury charge.
The victim’s sister said that Breana was hitting on Ricky as he sat in the car.
Soon after, the authorities were contacted.
Witnesses told the authorities that they saw Johnson and the man having a disagreement in the Jeep. One eye witness said that they heard Johnson say to the man “I’m going to k*ll you,” according to the legal documents.
The gas station attendant told the authorities that Johnson walked into the store and bought 50 cents worth
of gasoline. Another witness told authorities that they saw Johnson empty the gas into the back seat of the Jeep. She then walked around to the driver’s side and ignited it.
The legal documents says that witnesses saw the man get out of the Jeep. He was engulfed in flames. He ran through the parking lot. Someone used a fire extinguisher on him.
One witness said that Johnson claimed that she was smoking. She said that the smoking caused the gas to ignite. Another witness said that Johnson intentionally set him on fire. Witnesses said that Johnson was actually smiling as she left the store . She drove off in the Jeep.
Authorities said that the video footage from the gas station is consistent with the witnesses’ account of the events.
Doyle was taken to a hospital. He was later transferred to a burn center. He was in critical condition. He was not able to speak with authorities. This was because of his injuries.
Johnson has been in custody ever since her arrest for the assault charge. Her bail is set at $50,000.
