Denzel Washington and Pauletta Washington (née Pearson) have one of Hollywood’s most enduring marriages. They met in the late 1970s while working on the TV movie “Wilma,” where Denzel played Olympian Wilma Rudolph’s husband, and Pauletta played a fellow track star. After dating for a few years, they tied the knot on June 25, 1983.
Their marriage has stood the test of time, spanning over four decades. Denzel and Pauletta have four children: John David, Katia, and twins Malcolm and Olivia.
All of their children have pursued careers in the entertainment industry, with John David and Olivia becoming
actors, and Malcolm and Katia working as producers.
Denzel has often credited Pauletta for being his rock and the foundation of their family. He once said, "I would not be alive without Pauletta Washington. I wouldn’t survive". Pauletta, on her part, has emphasized the importance of hard work, prayer, and forgiveness in maintaining their relationship.
Their commitment to each other is evident in their actions. In 1995, they renewed their vows during a romantic trip to South Africa. Pauletta has also shared that their love for each other and their spiritual foundation have been key to their enduring marriage.
