Losing a loved one can already be stressful and daunting on the emotions. You would never think that your loved one’s last ride would end in such torment. A family in Massachusetts were grief stricken after witnessing the horrorific event at their family member’s funeral. During the final Curtain call, the casket fell open as it was being lowered into the grave. The family is seeking compensation for mental anguish. As the casket was being lowered the body fell out. The family of Andrew Serrano alleges negligence and the reckless cause of emotional distress on

the family because of this incident. During the funeral which was handled by the Perez Funeral Home at city-owned Bellevue Cemetery in Lawrence “one of the side straps on the city-owned casket lowering device broke, causing Mr. Serrano’s casket to fall into the grave and break apart," according to the suit. The "corpse fell out of the casket" it was in full view of the “horrified family members. After witnessing this unfortunate event they had become visibly distraught and hysterical," the records said.
