A woman who used to be a federal corrections employee is now being accused of irreversibly wounding her boyfriend. The incident happened at an intersection. According to the suspect’s reports, Atoya Holmes, 48, of Miami, and the victim, Verdell Goins, 52, went to a mutual friend’s house after attending the Miami Dolphins game. Authorities said that Holmes claimed that she got into a physical quarrel with her boyfriend inside of his Jaguar.

She also claimed that he had hit her. She explained that she told Goins to stop hitting her, but he continued. According to authorities, Holmes then used her weapon two times and it connected with Goins both times. Authorities said that an onlooker stated that Holmes was very upset because the victim ( her boyfriend) wanted to end their on-and-off again relationship. They had been together off and on for several years.
