Trayvon Martin’s Parents
A Florida Judge has thrown out George Zimmerman’s lawsuit against Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin. These two people are the parents of Trayvon Martin who was the 17-year-old young man that Zimmerman fatally injured.
The Judge wrote down in his order that Zimmerman wasn’t able to show “any fraudulent representation,” and it would be pointless to pursue any further arguments in the case. “
“There can be no claim for conspiracy to defraud if there is no adequately stated claim for fraud,” Judge Cooper wrote.
Zimmerman had filed a lawsuit against Martin’s parents back in late 2019. He also went after their lawyer Ben Crump. He accused them of trying to “destroy his good will and reputation in the community,” and portraying him as a non law abiding citizen. It was said that he
racially profiled Trayvon and went completely overboard as a volunteer for the community watch. Trayvon’s friends Brittany Diamond Eugene and Rachel Jeantel were also on the list of the suit. The lawsuit argued that Jeantel wasn’t really on the phone with Trayvon while the incident happened. It was said that her half sister Eugene was really speaking to Trayvon during the Zimmerman encounter with Trayvon. This could not be proven.
He also went after the Harper-Collins Publishers Zimmerman’s suit for putting out the book, Rest in Power: The Enduring Life of Trayvon Martin, written by his parents. The book detailed their son’s “life and struggles, his tragic demise , and the transformative movement for justice.”
Zimmerman claimed that he was acting in self-defense when he fatally shot Trayvon. He was acquitted the following year after being charged with second-degree fatally injury.
