Rae Carruth Pens 15-page Letter, Apologizes For Cherica Adams' Death, Calls Her Mother A Liar & Seeks Custody Of His Son

Carruth, a former Carolina Panthers wide-receiver, was sentenced to 18 to 24 years in prison in 2001 for hiring someone to shoot and kill his 24-year-old girlfriend, Cherica Adams, in an effort to avoid paying child support. Cherica died a month after being shot, but her baby boy, Chancellor Lee Adams, survived and has Cerebral Palsy as a result of his traumatic birth. Rae starts the letter by accusing Saundra Adams of telling lies on him and being a hypocrite when she says she forgives him for killing her daughter. Oh, but wait - there's more. He eventually gets around to apologizing for Cherica's death without admitting he hired someone to kill her. The nail in the coffin was when he went on to note he would like custody of his son. Yes! The same son he tried to have killed 18 years ago. He reminded Saundra Adams that she "wouldn't be around forever." Saundra Adams responded to Rae's letter saying she forgives him, but he will NEVER get custody of Chancellor!
