Bowie was a star athlete who won three medals at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, including silver in the 100-meter dash and bronze in the 200. She also ran the anchor leg in the women’s 4x100 relay, in which Team USA won gold. By the end of 2017, Bowie was a world champion in both the women’s 100 and 4x100 relay. She was also known as a humble and kind person who loved her hometown of Sandhill, Mississippi, where she grew up with her grandmother. Bowie’s demise came as

a shock to the track and field community and her fans. Her sports agency, Icon Management Inc., wrote on Twitter: "We’ve lost a client, dear friend, daughter and sister. Tori was a champion…a beacon of light that shined so bright! We’re truly heartbroken and our prayers are with the family and friends." Bowie’s funeral was held on May 13, 2023 at True Vine Baptist Church in Brandon, Mississippi. Mourners remembered her as an inspiration on the track and a faithful believer. She reportedly passed during child birth. She was 8 months pregnant.
